Straight talk service necessary? Empty Straight talk service necessary?

My straight talk service ends in a day or two.. will I be able to play without it? Not a big deal if I can't as I'm just going full ranger slow account.. but can anyone verify this?

Use wifi and you'll be good, your data will drop after service is cut.
