Rebooting phone.... Questions Empty Rebooting phone.... Questions

Post  moxcyn Thu Dec 19, 2013 4:53 pm

I'm in the process of downloading an anti-virus, but if it doesn't work - I'm going to have to reboot my phone (have a virus that won't let me go on a browser (gives that message about needing to buy their software yadda yah).

What do I need to do? It's not technically transfering to a new device, but I'm guessing that it'll wipe all my data from the phone....

The account transfer sticky info seems outdated as there's this upload/download thing now....

Anyone used that? What's this password thing it's telling me I'm going to need to know?

Thanks.

So from your current device, log into Monster Warlord and switch device menu. Then you need to upload your data (write down your alliance code as you will need it) and it will prompt you to make a password. You can make the password whatever you want it to be.

Then after that, the data will be uploaded and it will wipe the data away. Then you can do the reboot/factory reset stuff.

When you get that all situated, log into Monster Warlord again and switch device menu, from there you hit download data, and input the Alliance code of the data you uploaded, as well as the password you created. If all goes well, then you will have you data back.

you will either type in a password or it will give you a password after uploading your data to their server. after that, all MW data will be wiped from your phone and itll start a new account.

after wiping your phone and downloading MW again, you should have a new account. go to the transfer menu and download your data from their server, this is where your password would be needed

If by "reboot" you mean a factory reset, you shouldn't have to do anything, your MW account will be there when you install the game again.

I've done factory resets and installed custom ROMs on my phone and MW still recognized me when I installed and started up the game again.

This is on Android btw, if you have an iphone or something else this might not be the case.

With iPhone when I factory reset it, I forget to get the cs code and upon synching it, my account was there.

if you are just reinstalling on same phone then you do not need to do the transfer as the game recognizes the phone itself. just reinstall and previous stated and your good to go.

Thank you for all the replies. I'm going to do the reboot without anything extra and just make sure i copy my cs code, etc. Just in case.

thanks.

PS: I didn't think it would because I used to play a zombie shooter game a few months ago and did a factory reset, and it deleted all my data and didn't recognize me. Good to know that MW has those capabilities. Smile

Rebooting phone.... Questions Empty Re: Rebooting phone.... Questions

Post  moxcyn Thu Dec 26, 2013 10:49 am

Well this went from problem solved to.... Terrible!

The same night I posted this, 15 minutes later - my phone shut down randomly.... I tried to restart it and it just sits at the "Startup screen" and never moves.... I even went to android help sites and they tried to help me get it booted (using the hard recovery system/Power buttom+volume button on launch) but after a few replies they have told me that it sounds like my phone is fried and to just get a new one...

Problem: I never got a chance to write down the CS code and don't remember my alliance code!

I've heard Gamevil have almost non-existent customer support and aren't very helpful; what's the chances I can recover my account? And does anyone have any idea where to start once I get a new phone? (tomorrow)

Notes:
- I do have a Gamevil Live account, but I'm not sure if they link them to your game accounts.
- I have purchased about $150 worth of jewels; sometimes with credit card; sometimes with google play cards; but... that's covered on googles end I believe, so I'm not sure they'd have a record of who I am (i say this because i used to play a game called "Fallen Sword" and I once lost my account info and they had me fax a copy of my license to them since I had purchsed from them)...

This is a big mistake on my end, and I hope there's a way to recover my account. I had was just about 400,000,000 gold away from my first supreme! (had the monsters to combine and the jewels to guarentee it!) Sad Don't want to start all over; probably won't; since I justified the $150 by saying it would help get me caught up and from there I could just earn the rest of my jewels.

If Im not mistaken, your CS code is tied along with other games. Download a couple other Gamevil games and check to see if the CS codes match up. If so, then your CS code for MW should be the same as the other games Smile or at least how they used to do it not too long ago

but in your case, since your phone is "fried" and have to get a new one they might provide you with a new CS code. best bet is to talk to Gamevil customer support and see what they can do.

BTW what phone do you have? and are you familiar with Android rooting?

I actually played the boxing game occasionally. But, yeah, I can't get in to the phone to get it off them either. I'm getting my new phone tomorrow, so I'll see if the Gamevil live thing works....

I went ahead and sent an email to contact@gamevilusa.com with as much information that I could about my account and the situation. Will update people on what occurs if/when i receive a response. If it's the basic "fill in this form" and requesting CS, etc. I'm not going to be happy (primarily because if that's the only way they can recover an account - that's terrible since this happens to thousands of people daily.)

If that doesn't work - I'm just going to try to force a response by requesting refunds on all my google play purchases. I've dealt with google many times, and I know they have amazing customer service. But, hopefully I don't have to take that route. I'd rather just get my account back.

I have a Kyocera Event. I have only heard of rooting the last couple of days while trying to troubleshoot the boot problem, but haven't looked into it. If it's fairly simple - I'll look into it further though. Maybe I get a new phone - switch service to new phone, and if i can get the old phone booted up - switch the service back to it long enough to get the required information (I have Virgin Mobile and they make this very easy through the website).

I was asking because in the event that a phone doesnt work anymore, you can sometimes still hook your phone to your PC and run some ABD commands from PC, and be able to pull data/apps from the phone. Or run a RUU application to factory reset everything (including radios and firmware if you have changed those)

you can check out rooting guides at XDA Forums for your phone to see if theres any chance to save it. you wouldnt necessarily need to switch services again if you somehow get your old device working again, as you could simply use a WiFi connection to grab your CS code real quick or if it stays alive long enough, use the transfer method to switch your account to your new phone

if the above methods dont work, then hitting up Gamevil/Google might be your best bet

Also. U could take your phone to a repair store and they can root it for u and retrieve any info and make it functional. I have boost mobile and i bought the phone off craigslist. A few days later it stopped working. I took it to a authorized boost repair store. Paid 40 bucks. Phone works like new again and is rooted. Just an idea

Thanks for all the info. I did get a response back and it was a form, and it was the link to the site I was already aware of, but... They did say "If you don't remember any information, please leave it blank." Which tells me there's a chance. The only problem is all I can fill in on the form is Name, email, Monster Warlord name, and server.

But here's the email...

Dear Gamer,

For Monster Warlord Data Transfers, please fill out the form below.

If you don't remember any information, please leave it as blank.

Thank you.

Best regards,
GAMEVIL Contact

If this doesn't work - I'll look into doing what HD ❤️ Azn suggests. If I can't get that to work - I'll try what BrxOverdose. IF that doesn't work - - - Google it is Smile

Thanks for all your help. I'll definitely keep everyone updated.

if you feel that you are not comfortable doing the whole rooting process by yourself then I would take it to a repair shop like Brx said and they could figure out exactly whats wrong with it instead of purchasing a new phone.

not sure what the game checks as some ppl said they have wiped all data and uninstalled the game, then factory reset the phone. installed the game again and their account pops right back up even after wiping EVERYTHING. maybe the game just checks to see if its the same phone model as the one you used during your last login? or maybe its something deeper inside the phone....who knows lol. does anyone actually know where MW data is stored on our phones or SD card?

keep us posted tho  Smile

MW is a server side game, all the character data is stored on their servers. The only data stored on your phone is just basic settings like music & sound on/off, notification settings, etc.

I still can't figure out how GV ID's your phone. Your CS code in MW is actually the same as your device's Android ID. I thought that's what they used to link account to phone but I tried changing the Android ID on my phone once and I still logged into MW just fine. I thought maybe they use the phone's IMEI, but I'm playing on a tablet now that doesn't even have a IMEI, so no idea.

I really wish I could figure it out. I started looking into this because I wanted to spoof whatever ID was being used so I could log into the same MW account from my phone, tablet, or PC and be able to play on what ever device I felt like using at the time.

Wish they just used a login/pw system so I could do that. If they used the login/pw system then the OP of this thread wouldn't be in the situation he's in now. Smile

Well... less than 5 hours after filling out the form - i have my account back.

Im stunned because it Said 3-5 days.

I'm assuming they could see i was using the same Google account, had the same #, and same gamevil live login.

Very happy with this. And even though I got my account back without it - am now recording my CS and alliance code.

Thanks all for the help.

This is a +1 for this board and gamevil customer service!!! Definitely feel more secure about spending $ on it.
